Have you heard of Sqworl? It's one of my must haves for my classroom! It's sooo much like my obsession of the summer - Pinterest!
Sqworl is like Pinterest without multiple boards. It is a visual bookmarking tool to organize and share links with others. I love it in the classroom because the kiddos can easily see what they are "clicking" on and if you teach student in the lower grades who may be non-readers, that is AWESOME! Here are some screen shots of part of mine:
(Maybe there's a way to take one long screen shot but I haven't figured that one out.)
Students can click on the picture OR the title to go directly to the website. The ONLY downside is one ad in the free version (in one of the little boxes) but it's always to a "safe" site sooo you don't have to worry if someone should ACCIDENTALLY click on it. Each site opens in a new window, so it's easy for students to navigate and not get LOST! Like on Pinterest, you can search and then follow other people's Sqworls and use them in your own classroom. If your school system is like mine, Pinterest is blocked by the BELOVED web filters which makes Sqworl a great choice for the classroom. Here's the link to mine if you'd like to check it out:
Some other ideas on the website are to use Sqworl to make a tutorial, take notes when comparing items, or even use it for a homepage. I think I'll just stick with computer choices for my kiddos in the lab or classroom!
